J4 is delighted that BBC Workplace has won Fit Out project of the year in the BCO Regional Awards 2020. As Overbury say “This is where the magic happens behind the scenes, bringing news and entertainment across the country”. It’s true of course, and we also think the building itself is magical too. 

Designed by ID:SR Sheppard Robson, BBC Cymru Wales’s space at Central Square in Cardiff combines world-class in design while instilling a sense of local culture, local manufacturing and people. With their first class fit out and refurbishment abilities, Overbury was the contractor for this team. J4 has enjoyed working within what was a very special and talented team, and sends a big vote of thanks too, to BBC Workplace, Aecom and Currie and Brown.

For the awards evening this year the format was certainly different with it all being virtual, but that didn’t dampen any fun as there were plenty of surprises and gestures to be appreciated. J4 was a guest on Overbury’s “table”, and they had sent a beautiful hamper in advance of the evening to be enjoyed as the results came in. Jon Folly watched from home and although the main stage couldn’t see him, the Overbury table was in fact “interactive” and really did make the best of an unusual situation.
