We have managed, via a competitive tender process, the conditional sale of the existing freehold sites to Taylor Wimpey and have subsequently been monitoring their progress with planning consent for c. 400 new homes.

We have also managed a competitive tender process to select a developer to design, build and lease-back a new Broadcasting House to shell and core. The site of the winning developer (Rightacres) is located north of and directly in front of Cardiff Central Station. The building design by Foster + Partners is an important gateway image for Cardiff. It has six levels including a garden on the 4 th floor and a large basement. There are two entrances – a formal entrance on Wood Street and an entrance opposite the Station. Once inside the building staff and visitors will be able to visibly connect spaces on floors and between floors, including virtual reality-enabled TV Studios.

Whilst overseeing the developer’s shell and core design and construction, we are also managing the fit-out design team and contractor on behalf of the BBC. Developing these designs has required intense stakeholder management, excellent communications and robust change control.

We will start migrating BBC staff into the new Broadcasting House building in Autumn 2019 and complete on the disposals of their existing freehold sites in Llandaff by the end of Summer 2020.
