The Internet of Things – smart building solutions

Dubbed by some as the ‘fourth industrial revolution’, the Internet of Things is certainly a hot topic for 2021. Broadly speaking, IoT encompasses everything connected to the internet, from smart light bulbs to driverless lorries. We see it in our homes with smart lighting, heating, voice assistants and wearable tech as bit by bit our lives become ‘smarter’.

Businesses are quickly implementing IoT too, the number of businesses that use the IoT technologies has increased from 13 percent in 2014 to about 25 percent today. And the worldwide number of IoT-connected devices is projected to increase to 43 billion by 2023, an almost threefold increase from 2018. Forbes include edge computing in their 2021 trends which includes Smart Buildings and Smart Cities.
